An Easter Song. ~Promise
v. 1
I'm looking up at you,
I know your life is gone.
Satan's used your people
as his wicked pawn.
You're bruised and you're broken,
You're hanging on a tree,
You could have called on angels,
but you're hanging now...for me?
chorus
Master, why?
How could you die?
Why trade your life for mine?
Holy Jesus,
lamb of God,
All glory, Lord, be thine.
v. 2
I'm weeping at your tomb,
why have they taken you?
What do the people think
a dead messiah could do?
Then, you call my name,
my soul, now revive,
death could not keep you in grave
my Jesus is alive!
chorus
bridge
Ascending into heaven,
I watch you leave this earth,
you've changed world's existence,
you've given us new birth.
You've promised to return,
I pray it won't be long,
I will live my life for you,
I will praise you with my song!
chorus
~Promise.
The Song of my Crazy, Messed up Life. ~Promise
v. 1
My converse lying on the floor,
my stuffs piled near the door,
just trying to figure this out.
My messy room reflects my brain,
so many things make me go insane,
too many things to think about.
chorus
Gotta breath and let things go,
gotta stop and take it slow,
help me see the good,
like I know I should,
Lord, help me through this stress,
and get me out of this mess.
v. 2
Can't focus, can hardly think,
this is gonna push me to the brink,
I think I'm going crazy.
school, family, gotta keep eating right,
another day means another fight,
my world seems so hazy.
chorus
bridge
You never promised life would not be hard,
it's not a picnic in my backyard,
can't keep this all inside,
I'm on a loopy rollercoaster ride!
chorus.
Maybe you can relate? Have a great day! God bless. ~Promise

The Importance of Music Education -- Grace
So I found out something interesting a few months ago...my mom told me she wants me to go to college.
And I'm thinking, "WHAT THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO STUDY THERE?!?!??! IT'S FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And stress was added when she told me that I COULD BE GRADUATING THIS SPRING. Or next spring. At the latest, the spring after that.
So...yeah, that was kinda scary. But anyways, I was thinking about what I want to study. I prayed and prayed and prayed....and then for good measure, I prayed some more. But God doesn't change.
GUYS. He wants me to go into music education.
Okay, so aside from me freaking out about what a terrible pianist I am and how I need to be practicing RIGHT NOW INSTEAD OF WRITING THIS BLOG POST, I'm going to stress the importance of music education in our schooling systems.
10. If you're a music teacher....
I know, I know. Not everyone can be a music teacher. But in the rare and amazing case you ARE a music teacher, and you do end up teaching your children about music, do you know how much money you can save your family?! Lessons generally cost anywhere from twenty to sixty dollars a session. If you have one lesson a week, that's $1,040 dollars a year. Most people, if they're extremely dedicated (like some people I know), might take lessons for, say, fifteen years. That's a grand total of $15,600 going into music education in a family...for one child and one instrument.
9. It makes you think.
Loud, soft, hard, gentle?
8. It creates feeling.
Yesterday a friend and I were talking. She said that Sunday, when she played for a service, she played the hymn, "What Wondrous Love Is This." She said she was reading the words, and she actually started crying. I know that showed through her playing.
7. You learn new languages.
Every musician learns the language of their instrument(s). Every musician learns a bit of Italian too. Maestoso, dolce, forte, piano, adagio, allegretto. I've also learned some German through music and I know many learn French as well.
6. It helps you express yourself.
When I am sad, I play sad songs. When I am happy, I play happy songs that praise God. Either way, I come out of it feeling a lot better.
5. It helps you connect with people.
I have friendships that started because we both love music. Heck, my friendship with my piano teacher is based almost solely upon our joint love of music and, as she would say, "Yummy chords"!
4. It helps children with difficulties.
It has been proven that music definitely aids children with autism. I have seen this myself with friends that I have.
3. It helps create humor.
What band, choir, or music geek doesn't love a good music pun?
2. It speaks to your soul.
Music speaks to me in a way nothing else can. It cheers me up, helps me grow, and, most importantly, brings me as close as I have ever been to God. When I feel His Spirit, it is almost, almost always when there is music. I have felt and heard the angels sing when singing with my choir.
1. You can share it.
Music was never meant to be stifled. In music, you can grow, experiment, learn, create, and thrive.
And then you can share it with others around you. And that gift is priceless.
A Challenge Issued by Promise.
Hey Y'all, it's GRACE! (wink wink) Today I thought I'd post something meaningful and profound, like I do all the time. (With perfect grammar and punctuation of course) (Me being a hipster) (And having awesome square tortie glasses that I love to wear) I shall post a poem!
Ahem...Let's call this....Heatrbreak Hotel.
verse 1
Welcome to heartbreak hotel
I'd show you around
but you know it well
I know you've walked these halls before
Just trying to peek in heaven's door,
It seems your dreams have flown away,
and the world feels so cold and gray...
Just hang on.
(refrain)
refrain
Around the corner comes life anew,
your savior's calling now for you,
this place is only a dry well, come on, check out,
of heartbreak hotel.
verse 2
Your stay here's come to an end
Jesus will be your constant friend
so leave your luggage all behind
follow now the one who's kind
I know it seems too good to be true
but it's the only thing to do...
it's time to leave.
(refrain)
(bridge)
bridge
bid this place a fond farewell
you no longer live within it's shell,
you break free and you soar
like you've never done before...
(refrain x2)
Soooooooo....we're committing to that....I guess. What do you guys think? Comment! Love ya guys! ~Promise

...Pros and Cons of being Single...~Promise edition
Pros.
1. Less drama. If your looking for drama, you're gonna find it, but most unwanted drama comes from romantic relationships.
2. You can make plans without having to work around your boyfriend/girlfriend's sheduel. FREEDOM. I feel like going to this movie today......wait.......boyfriend.....what if he wants to do something else? No boyfriend, less problems with schedules.
3. More time to focus on God. In the new testament, Paul says that people that are married (or in this case boyfriend/girlfriend applies too) have to balance time with God with serving your spouse. He's not saying that being married or having a boyfriend/girlfriend is bad, he's just addressing the fact that people who are in a relationship have to think about another person.
Cons. The BIG FAT HORRIBLE CON.
1. Sometimes you feel lonely, and wish you had somebody that thought you were attractive and possibly wanted to spend his/her life with you. I know I get this way. I just have to remind myself that my joy flows from God, and that if I'm not happy with just him, I'll never be content or satisfied.
So, that's my take on this "pro/con of being single. Maybe you can relate? I'm sure we all have been lonely at one time or another, but take heart. If you haven't met 'the one' yet, don't despair. God's got it, and he's got an amazing plan for you that nobody else could do. Love you guys. Comment below if you're still waiting for your true love to show up! I know I am. ~Promise.

Pros and Cons of Being Single -- Grace
Okay, so in case you weren't aware, I'm a girl. And girls tend to get a little...shall we say....emotional. I'm feeling emotional tonight after a night out with friends....so I'm doing a post about the pros and cons of being single. Sensible thing to do, right? (Perhaps I'm trying to prove to myself that there is a blessing in waiting...)
Promise and I are in high school. It seems like most of the people I know are pairing off (or about to). I can't quite put my finger on this feeling, but it has something to do with feeling lonely...
Cons: (I'll admit, these are weak arguments....)
-- You have no one to stand next to when not currently engaged in a conversation. So you're awkwardly standing there...like the wallflower you've always been.
-- Who are you going to tell every single little thing to? (Note to self -- God might feel like a blank wall at times, but He's always there 😊).
-- There's a part of you missing.
There. I put my feelings into words. I feel like a part of me is missing. I feel like I'm half a person.
PROS!!!!:
-- Who cares if I want to go see that new movie or not? I CAN DO WHATEVAH I WANT TO. ;-)
-- Seriously. There are no "I can't, I'm not feeling well today"'s when youre single.
-- There is literally no jealousy.
-- I don't have to remember any anniversaries. This was the first time I went to the library by myself? Great! Let me breaK out the ice cream and Aristocats DVD and eat/watch them in bed. BECAUSE I MAKE THE RULES IN THIS RELATIONSHIP! ;-)
That being said, I'll be excited for that day that I'm no longer only "half a person"...and if I stay single forever, well...MORE ICE CREAM FOR ME!!!!! 😊

My New Favorite Bible Story -- Grace
I wanted a neat scripture for my board, one that resonated with me, and so I began to think back. One surfaced in my mind. It was one that my Sunday school teachers had taught me a few months ago, and then my teacher used it in a sermon the next week. I had always loved the story and thought it was cool, and for some unexplained reason (except that I have a weird brain) I somehow memorized the reference for the passage. This is taken from 2nd Chronicles 20 if you want to look it up, but I'm going to try and explain it here in modern-people terms. :)
So if you like a good story, settle in and buckle your belt. This one is amazing.
Back in the days of the Old Testament, there was a kingdom called Judah. They had several kings -- which tended to swing back and forth from good to evil to good again. The king at this time was named Jehoshaphat. He was a righteous king (at least, in this story. I haven't taken the time to read about his life :D ). Anyways, one day, the people of Moab and the children of Ammon decided to attack Judah.
When the people of Judah found out about the impending attack, they became afraid. They went to King Jehoshaphat for help. Now, when the King heard that what the Moabites and Ammonites were planning, he became afraid too. He knew his little kingdom didn't stand a chance against these people.
So the people of Judah did a beautiful thing...they gathered together and prayed. Jehoshaphat prayed a beautiful, long prayer, asking for help. Then, the Lord answered him, right then and there.
The Spirit of God rested upon a man named Jahaziel, and marvelous things were told to them. My favorite quote from that passage is this:
