Tuesday Tunes with Relient K

Hey everyone! Welcome to Tuesday Tunes! This Tuesday's song is brought to us by Relient K, a band with some pretty amazing songs. This song is called 'Be My Escape.'
This song's lyrics really hit me hard. I shut myself up inside myself and dig myself into ruts. I'm just trying to figure out my life and find out what part I'm supposed to play, and yet I get lost in all the doubts and insecurities that I find inside myself. My only option to find peace is to cry out to God to be my escape.
I can tell you now. Grace will 'disagree' with the actual music, but I think she'll like the words.
I really hope you enjoy this song. Honestly, when I'm feeling depressed, I reach for my phone and jam out to 'Little More than Useless' and this song.
   God bless? ~Promise.

Smokey Eye on our very own Grace!

So, Grace. Pretty gorgeous, right? She's beautiful without a speck of makeup on, but we decided to try out a smokey eye sense she's never worn one before. TA-DA!

You kind of had to see her in person to get the full effect, but really.
Wow, huh? :) Yep. My work here's done.
~Promise.

Tuesday Tunes with Everfound and Colton Dixon

Hey everyone! (I really need to start my post with something new...) Last week I posted Tuesday Tunes a day late, So today I'm doing not one but TWO SONGS. Ah, I can feel your enthusiasm...

Rise by Colton Dixon is one of those songs that everyone can relate to at some point in their lives. I love this song. It seems to me like Jesus talking to a lost soul. It's real and painful and sad, but it's every bit as hopeful and encouraging as it is sad. Check it out. >

I'm really into the band Everfound. This song is called Never Beyond Repair. I can tell you right now that Grace will hate the music, but love the lyrics. ;) I found this song a few weeks ago and I love it. The message is so true. God will take your broken, sinful life and make it something beautiful. Enjoy!

As always, feel free to suggest music. I think one of these Tuesdays I'll do a whole post on just music that people recommend. Well, this has been fun! I'll see you next week for another session of Tuesday Tunes. God bless! ~Promise.

Pin curls, People!

Now, I know what you're thinking. 'Seriously? It just looks like another teen girl with loose curls in her hair.' Oh, no. You have no idea how hard it is to get my hair to curl. No. Idea. Last night I pinned my hair and slept on it, and I awoke with curls in my hair. Woah. There are plenty of pin curl tutorials on YouTube if you want to try this out. Totally works! ;)

Snow White. Small red lips, blushed cheeks and dark, thin brows. (Typical 20-30, Grace likes)

Belle Inspired ~Promise

Belle inspired makeup with brown eye makeup, brownish pink lips and rose blush.

The Myers-Briggs Types as Classical Music -- Grace

Promise and I are kind of into the Myers Briggs fandom right now.  :D  So, Prommy, this one is for you.  :D
Here I have compiled a list of the Myers-Briggs types as classical music (except for Chopsticks....we'll make an exception for the ESFPs).  :D

INFJ

INFJs are mysterious, magical souls.  They remind me of dark nights under the stars, perhaps at the edge of a beautiful blue lake.  So, for this reason, I chose Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsOUcikyGRk

INFP

Well, I am an INFP.  We are often seen as dreamers, idealists, and starry-eyed envisioners of a rose-tinted future.  So, who better to convey us than Claude Debussy and his Clair de Lune?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fvo_iOuSck

INTJ

INTJs are thinkers, amazing, and some of my favorite people.  So, I chose a song by my favorite composer, Frederic Chopin.  I bring you the Prelude in C Minor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TuFXeZGxmQ

INTP

I'll be honest -- I don't actually know any INTPs (that I can think of, off the top of my head), soooo I just went off of what I gleaned from 16personalities.com and Tumblr text posts that I read off Pinterest.

Say hello to the Largo from the New World Symphony, by the renowned Anton Dvorak!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASlch7R1Zvo

ISTP

I've read that ISTPs like to be unique, so I chose a unique, unexpected song for them here.  Again with the Debussy (I'm telling you, this guy's exquisite!!!) -- The Little Shepherd Boy by Claude Debussy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsUAYyLh86E

ISFP

Again with not actually knowing any of these.  Based on what I've read, I picked Spring Song for them by Felix Mendelssohn (another longstanding favorite of mine).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPwNbEySjG4

ISTJ

Looking back, I can't even remember why exactly I picked this for the ISTJs, but for some reason, I went with Fur Elise by Ludwig van Beethoven.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO_xjzHzHZ0

ISFJ

ISFJs are warm and kindhearted.  So I picked one of my favorite "warm" pieces -- Album Leaf in E Flat Major by Frederic Chopin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnPlh0Tj0LM

ENTP

I read somewhere that ENTPs are like an exciting night with lots of people at a carnival.  So, I bring you Flying Leaves by Carl Kolling.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnPlh0Tj0LM

ENFP

Let's face it....ENFPs are amazing.  For them, I picked the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah by George Frederic Handel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUZEtVbJT5c

ENTJ

I am very, very close to an ENTJ.  They can be blustering and violent, and soft and sweet at times.  So here is Knight Rupert by Robert Schumann.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6UxJO2FAyQ

ENFJ

They say ENFJs are very charismatic and quite inspiring.  Sooooo I bring you one of the single most inspiring songs I know.  :D  Pomp and Circumstance by Edward Elgar.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBUH1XkNR1k

ESTP

Again, no idea why I chose this song.  Solfeggietto by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBUH1XkNR1k

ESFP

So ESFPs are known for being partiers, loving fun, and just being....out there.  So, what better song to give to the ESFPs than Chopsticks, arranged by Richard Compton?  :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irryxsgtCpw

ESTJ

The Invention in F Major by Johann Sebastian Bach.

ESFJ

So this song just screams "ESFJ!!!!!!" at me -- Spring from Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFWQgxXM_b8

What songs would you have awarded to these sixteen personalities?

(PS, Here's to the ENTJ brother of mine for inspiring this!!!)

~ Grace

Elsa Inspired ~Promise.

Elsa, being the closest to my personality, and just being awesome, inspired this makeup. Hang on, there'll be a lot more of these...

15 Reasons Why...an Epilogue -- Grace

So, earlier this week, Promise and I wrote posts to each other explaining the things we liked most about each other, right?

Well....I have a confession to make.

I'm highly competitive.  I'm also a very, very needy person.  I'm timid.  I doubt myself.  A lot. I doubt a lot of people.  I am one of the 14,000,000 people in the United States who has or does struggle with depression.

It's been better lately, but it's been a hard week.

When I feel like someone is better at something than me, I result to beating myself up over it.  And when people tell me what a good job I did or how cute I look on a particular day, I tend to think they're lying to make me feel better.

I don't do this a lot, but I do occasionally.  I especially have the last few days.  I do it a lot more when I'm alone with my thoughts.

So when Promise's post came out, I thought it was really sweet, but I shrugged it off as just another attempt to get me to feel good about myself.

I actually thought tonight, "Yeah...I can prove every single one of those wrong."  But you know what happened then?  The Spirit came and whispered something to me.

"She knows that.  And yet, she still loves you.
Jesus knows everything about you, but He still died for you.  Nothing will ever change that."

And in that moment, what Jesus did for me became real.

I fell to my face and cried, "My God, my God, why did You die for me?"

And the answer was still the same: "I love you."

So I guess what I want to leave you with is this:

Jesus died for you.  He loves you soooo much.

    But that's not the ending.

      He's alive.

Tuesday Tunes with Remedy Drive (A DAY LATE)

Hey everyone! I totally forgot about about Tuesday Tunes. SORRY. Today's spotlight is on Remedy Drive, a band that has captured my attention. This song's called Heartbeat. I love the feel of this song. I have a soft spot in my heart for slightly gravely voices like Jon Foreman from Switchfoot and Rhett Walker from the Rhett Walker Band. The song starts out as a cry for help, then ends as a prayer of thanks. I love songs that transition from one feeling to another. Hope you enjoy!

15 Reasons why Grace is the BEST! ~Promise

Hey everyone! Sooooooo, Grace is an absolutely AMAZING gal, and here's why-
(She forgot to mention that I'm also very competitive, hence the 15...Also notice how nice and square 15 is...)

1. First off, she's honest. If you ask, she will give her opinion.

2. She's eloquent. If you've heard her lovely poetry, then you have noticed this. She loves spinning words into beautiful tapestries.

3. She's musical. Grace is WAY BETTER at sight reading than I am, and she has a good sense of beat and melody.

4. She's soulful. Grace reaches deep within to find beautiful knowledge that she's saved for a rainy day.

5. She's bubbly. This girl is fully alive! You guys should seriously see her smile, she literally glows, and everyone around her can't help but draw from her joy.

6. She's Spiritual. This girl follows God and strives to be in tune with him.

7. She loves people. Grace easily loves people and people easily love her.

8. She's humble. Grace has incredible talents and gifts, and yet she remains humble about them, even when complimented. (Which she should be, often. I'M TALKING TO YOU, READER. That's right. comment something great that you've noticed about her!)

9. She's punny. Let's make that a word, guys! She's always thinking up funny puns, and encouraging others to try 'pun-ing.'

10. She's sweet. Grace is one of the nicest people you will meet. She loves to make people smile and laugh and encourage people when they're down.

11. She's empathetic. Grace gets how hard life can be and she can truly understand what you're going through.

12. She's very very very loyal. Don't EVER hurt a friend of hers. Ever.  She will stand with you to the very bitter end. Period. No exceptions. If you've won her trust, she will walk through fire and brimstone to be there for you.

13. She's beautiful. Inside and out, Grace shines with radiant beauty. Her green eyes sparkle and her lips speak kind words.

14. She loves animals. Cats, dogs, horses, whatever. She loves 'em.

15. She's enthusiastic. If she likes something, she REALLY REALLY LIKES SOMETHING, and just for fun-

'Cool! Now I have two bombs!'
'Don't be messy.'
'WRONG LEVER, KRONK!'
'Doe, a dear, a female deer...'

And so on. ;)

I love ya sistah. (No, that's not a typo.)
Y'all have a great day, God bless. ~Promise.

She's always been able to bring me back to Earth when I've floated too far out among the stars.

Promise is all feels, too.  :D

9.  She loves God.
And she doesn't just love Him.  She desires to serve Him with every single cell within her.  :)

8. She's fierce.
I remember when someone hurt me, and she got mad. :)

7.  She's tough.
Let me tell you, this gal is crazy tough.  I could never in my life go through what Promise has and does.  :)

6.  She's protective.
She's very very very protective of her younger sister.  :)

5.  She's funny.
Promise has a neat quick wit that has always had me in stitches.  :)

4.  She's brought many people to my acquaintance.
In fact, some of my favorite acquaintances are ones that Promise introduced to me!

3.  She's bright.
As far as I can recall, Promise has never been afraid to stand up for what is right.

2.  She's amazing.
Promise is just plain amazing, that's all.

1.  She's....well, humorous.
From accidentally getting mascara all over her friends' faces to accidentally burning herself while lighting a candle (I'm sorry, Prommy, that was hilarious), Promise has always, always, always done things to keep me laughing, even when I felt I couldn't anymore.

That's priceless.  This fall, we'll have been best friends for ten years, over half of our lifetimes.

I wuv you, Prommy.

Room at the Cross -- Grace

Hey, ya'll!  Gracie here.  I wanted to share with you a hymn that has been on my heart for the past few days.  My brother originally taught it to me, but I didn't really know the words very well.  Tonight, my aunt (*waving* HI, AUNTIE J!!!!!) gave me a hymnal for my birthday (which is actually in June....).  That hymn was in there.  I want to leave the words with you tonight.  :)

"The cross upon which Jesus died
Is a shelter in which we can hide;
And its grace so free is sufficient for me,
And deep is its fountain -- as wide as the sea.

There's room at the cross for you,
There's room at the cross for you;
Though millions have come,
There's still room for one --
Yes, there's room at the cross for you.

The millions have found Him a friend
And have turned from the sins they have sinned,
The Savior still waits to open the gates
And welcome a sinner before it's too late.

There's room at the cross for you,
There's room at the cross for you;
Though millions have come,
There's still room for one --
Yes, there's room at the cross for you.

The hand of my Savior is strong,
And the love of my Savior is long;
Through sunshine or rain, through loss or in gain,
The blood flows from Calv'ry to cleanse ev'ry stain.

There's room at the cross for you,
There's room at the cross for you;
Though millions have come,
There's still room for one --
Yes, there's room at the cross for you."

Calls the Master -- Grace

So tonight I was looking at a picture that has hung on our wall for as long as I can remember.  It's one of those pictures that I never look at, but tonight I realized how beautiful it is.  It's a painting of two hands outstretched, and in flowing font at the top it says, "Come unto Me."  I'd been pondering the phrase "Look unto Me" for a few days now, and when I saw that, I knew what I was to do.  This poem flowed as soon as I sat down to write it.

"Look unto Me," calls the Master,
"Look up and love Me today.
Trust in Me always for all things;
Know that I will guide your way."

"Come unto Me," calls the Master,
"Come and lay down at My feet.
There you'll find rested assurance;
There My sweet Spirit you'll meet."

"Pray unto Me," calls the Master,
"Pray for the things that you need.
Pray and delight in My presence,
Knowing I always will lead."

"Look unto Me," calls the Master,
"Know that I died for your sins.
I hung on a cross for the world,
And clean you shall be again."

~ Grace, May 10th, 2016

I hope this touched you as it did me after I read it.  :) <3

Tuesday Tunes with Hawk Nelson

Hey everyone! It is again Tuesday. Today our song comes from the band Hawk Nelson. I like quite a few of their songs, but this is one that speaks to me. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am, by nature, a very negative person. This song is a good reminder for me to give thanks, even if I'm having a hard day, like today. Thanking God even when you're not feeling thankful does something to your heart. It changes your outlook. It forces you to look at the good. If you have suggestions on songs, feel free to comment! See y'all later. ~Promise.

9 Reasons Big Brothers Are the Best -- Grace

Now that Promise has rounded it off to a nice, even 95....why not make it 96??  And now, to get on her nerves even more....Nine Reasons Big Brothers Are The Best.

9.  They're sweet.
Yeah, some of you are wondering what the heck I'm talking about.  But really.  They are.

8.  They make jokes.
My older brother has come up with some of the best inside jokes I have ever heard.  And he remembers them for eternity.

7.  They tease.
My brothers have teased me and teased me...deep down I know I love them for it.

6. They protect.
I think my brother's favorite thing to say is, "I'll get my gun!"
He is quick to, shall we say, turn away any who might be romantically interested in his little sister.  #stillsingle #idontreallycareiwasjustbeingfunny

5. They comfort.
I can't tell you how many times my world has been crashing down around me and I could talk to my brother about it.  He always gives me the correct advice...to pray.  And, he's always ready to give me a hug when I've been going through an especially hard time.

4. They teach you things.
One of my brothers taught me my first word.  Yes, it was "Dude!".

Yes, he was proud.

My other brother taught me to play guitar when I was twelve.  It's a skill I still use and I always will.

3.  They love.
I'm not sure which one of us loves more fiercely: my two older brothers, or their little sister.

2. They encourage.
I can't tell you how many times my brother has told me that I could do something when I was freaking out.

Not only that, but they spiritually encourage too.  :)

1.  They're your best friend.
Yep.  Here's to you two, my sweet big brothers.  You're my bffs.  <3

Things that Don't End in 5 or 0 and Other Frustraiting Aspects of My Life. ~Promise

OKAY, I know that this probably isn't the best cause to write a post...but we have 94 posts and it bothers me to have something not end in 5 or 0...So...Yeah...I guess I'll just update y'all on my current life-ness.
I'm writing this book for school and it's pretty bad right now, but I've started editing it and hopefully it will turn out to be half decent. It does not have a title as of yet, so that's another thing to work on. Basically it's a story narrated by the main character Tre. That's all I'll say. I thought about releasing it chapter by chapter on the blog after it's finished. We shall see.
What else am I doing? Hmmmm. Oh yeah...SCHOOL. *shutter* I have gotten all my school done except for Algebra, OYAN (One Year Adventure Novel, also know as OYAN, my writing curriculum that's helping me write the story I mentioned above) and Japanese. Yeah. Japanese. That's INSANELY DIFFICULT. But I'm almost done. I should be done in month. Joy. If you haven't guessed, I'm not a fan of school.
So, now that I've totally depressed you with my ranting about school, what can I say that will keep you from running away and never reading our blog again.........Okay. Here! Look! We have baby pugs! please don't leave us...we love you guys...

What else can I tell you about?
I might be able to start guitar lessons with Grace! Yay! I sort of play the piano, but I do want to learn the guitar.
I've pretty much run out of ideas...So I'll sign off now with a nice, even 95 posts. :)

~Promise.

Tuesday Tunes with Stellar Kart.

Hey Everybody! It's Tuesday Tunes! This week I'm featuring another Stellar Kart song. What can I say? They have some great music! This song is called 'Jesus Loves You.' This song means a lot to me. I'm pretty sure that this song would be Grace's prayer put into song. She will know what this means. I see so much hurt in this world, so many people just trying to find meaning. I truly believe that Jesus is our only hope, a hope that we can all partake of.  I hope you enjoy this song. As always, I will take suggestions on what songs to post. Jesus loves you! ~Promise
