Tuesday Tunes, I'm Sorry, I'm Lazy

Hey guys. Sorry, I keep forgetting about Tuesday Tunes. Today, I'm doing three of my favorite songs from Les Mis. Thanks for the new obsession, Grace, I was needing another tragic story to ruin my life. ;)

Stars. I love Javert, and this song is just stunning. The lyrics are a peek into his outlook and what drives him.

On My Own. Tragic and beautiful. Eponine is dealing with unrequited love and feeling lost in the world. She's one of my favorite characters. She's fierce, but also very sensitive. The picture these lyrics paint is bittersweet.

Can You Hear the People Sing. This is one of those songs that makes you want to change the world. You can take on any opposing force. I love the passion of the characters in this song.

Hope you guys like this, see you next week...I hope. ~Promise

Makeup Basics ~ Promise

Hey everyone! I realize that I post a lot of makeup related content, so today I'm breaking it down a bit. I'm going to show you some basic products, how to apply them, and what they do for you.

1. Concealer. It does what it says, it conceals things that you want to cover up. Usually acne, spots, and under eye darkness. Use a brush, sponge, or your fingers to gently pat a thin layer onto your blemishes or dark circles. Concealer comes in a bunch of different formulas so you can find the type that's best for you based on your skin type or desired look. The one I'm using here is a creamy liquid.

2. Foundation. This evens out your skin. It's like a lighter concealer that you apply all over your face. You can use the same application as a concealer. Make sure you find a color that matches your neck and natural skin. If it's too light or dark, it'll look like you're wearing a mask. I like dabbing it on with a sponge.

3. Blush. Blush gives your cheeks some color. Yes, I realize that the foundation and concealer we just put on took all the redness out of the skin, and now we're putting color back on. Basically it's because color only looks good on specific areas and nowhere else. Blush is usually liquid, cream, or powder. Mine is powder. Use a blush brush to dust on a bit to your cheeks. I apply mine a little higher than the apples. The apples are the fleshy parts or your cheeks that are most noticeable when you smile.

4. Eye shadow. Eye shadows enhance your eyes. You can choose a neutral (one that goes with everything and looks good on everyone) Or you can choose colors that make your eyes really pop ( you can check out a post I did on this here) The easiest way to use eye shadow is to pick a powder and use a small, fluffy brush to do a wash of color over the eyelids.

5. Eyebrow Pencil. These fill in your eyebrows so they frame your face. Trust me, you need eyebrows. Pick a color that's a shade lighter than your hair if your hair is dark, and a shade darker if you're a blond. Use short, feathery strokes to fill in your brows. Brow color can come in pomades, gels, pencils, stains, pens, or powders. I like pencils a lot 'cause they're easy to apply.

6. Eyeliner. Eyeliner makes your lashes look thicker, but you can also get creative and use it to make wings or whatever you feel like. Eyeliner gels, liquid, and pencils are the most common. They come in about every color imaginable. I like to slightly pull my eyelid taut and wiggle the pencil onto the roots. (I look kinda derpy in the first picture...not sure what I was doing...I think the camera surprised me)

7. Mascara. Mascara is used to thicken and darken your eyelashes. They generally come in black or brown, but colored mascaras are becoming popular. In case you're an INFP, and your tears are endless, mascara also comes in waterproof. It won't run and smear if you cry or sweat. Yes. Waterproof mascara. This is a thing.  I like to put the mascara wand up at the base of my lashes and wiggle it as I comb it through.

8. Lipstick/ lip gloss. There are sooooo many lip products out in the world today. Stains, lipsticks, lip glosses, balms, tints. All of which can offer differing finishes. Today, I'm focusing on lipstick and lip gloss. Generally, lip glosses are sheer and shiny, they're great for making your lips look fuller. Lipstick is generally more opaque, meaning you can't see through the color, like a lip gloss. Lipsticks are great if you want a bold color or you're looking for a full coverage color. There are sheer lipsticks too. Lipstick can be shiny, matte, metallic, shimmery, you name it. The first swatch on the left is a gloss, the next is a cream lipstick, then a matte, lastly, two metallic lipsticks. Today I'm applying a metallic lipstick with a gloss on top.

9. Powder. Powder keeps your skin from getting oily and sets your makeup. You can pick one that matches your skin, or a translucent, like this one. Use a sponge or a fluffy brush to press or dust it over your forehead, nose, and chin, or where ever you get oily.

10. Setting Spray. You spray it onto your face and it it keeps your makeup in face. This one also helps keep your skin matte.

Okay, that was a lot of pictures and typing. Hope that helped a little, it was fun for me. What do you think? Comment below! See you guys soon.

Update from Grace...................finally.

Hi!

Wow, it's been a long time...

Promise rather suggested I should update you about my life, so here I am.

This year I'm a senior in high school, so I'm working on our Church's graduates' reception, senior pictures (hopefully coming in April), and trying to figure out what I want to be and how to suit my college career so I can get there.  Right now, the only thing I'm certain of is that I'm going to music school.

Other than that, I've been struggling with some health problems and we're still trying to find the root cause.  I have almost all of the symptoms and signs for hypothyroidism, but my TSH level is normal (apparently that's not uncommon...).  ANYWAYS, hopefully I'll be going to the doctor next week to get some of this sorted out.

Aside from health and school, I've been working on music a LOT, too.  I'm currently singing in two or three choirs, and playing for our Children's Choir at Church.  I also have a couple of services coming up that I have to play for, aside from piano lessons and practicing every day for that.  Recently I've been working on Christian Sinding's Rustle of Spring and Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers.

Annnnnnd other than that.........I've been going through old pictures.  I found some really funny and cute ones from when I was little.  There are also pictures of my nephew from when he was a baby -- he's seven now.

Tonight, my best friend, his mom, and I are going to visit one of our friends from Des Moines, Iowa.  He's in town (we live several hours south of there) because, while down here for a basketball tournament, he broke his arm.  The thing is, he lives in a wheelchair, so he's having to do some rehabilitation before he can be on his own again.

Anyways.  I should stop rambling now.  Goodbye, friends!

Update ~ Promise

Hey guys! I completely failed at Tuesday Tunes this week. Sorry! I was still recuperating from the Senior High retreat I went to and didn't feel like it. I'll see if i can put something out next Tuesday.

I kinda miss posting every day, surprisingly. Maybe I'll do a thing where I post everyday for a week out of each month. Sound interesting? Let me know.

Anyway, my life has been okay of late. I've had to read a couple of historical fiction books about the civil war. It was such a frustrating time. Much like today. Only, we haven't come to killing each other. Yet. I just finished them, so at least that's over for now. I've been into Les Miserables lately. The music is both inspiring and sad. ALSO. We got a cat. He's so cute! It's so weird to have an animal...So that's a little update on me. Maybe we could get an UPDATE FROM GRACE cough cough cough. ;)

I have some stuff planned for the future, so hopefully you'll see those out soon! ~Promise

Tuesday Tunes ~ It's Back...i think...

I'm back. I had a break, and now I'm back. Figured I'd update y'all on my current life situation, then get on to TT. My life is church, school, song writing, emailing, texting, Netflix-ing, planning, crying when plans fail, and podcasts. There you go. If you guys have post ideas for me, please let me know. I have a 'Girl Meets World' makeup post in the works. I really like both Riley and Maya's signature looks in the T.V. series. Anyway, music time now.

Today I've got a song by Relient K and one by 21 Pilots. I like a few songs from them so far, but I haven't formulated an over all opinion on them yet.

Anyway, the first song, by Relient K is called 'Look On Up' I think Grace will actually like it. I seem to slip into the digital world so much, it feels like I'm not quite living. This song reminds me to look up from my devices and to appreciate the simple things in life.

The other song is called 'Stressed Out' Some of the music in it isn't quite my thing, but I like the message of the song. Sometimes I dream of a time when things were easier. No diabetes, no money, no guilt, no school. Sounds pretty awesome. This song reminds me of 'Good Times' by Manic Drive, which is awesome, by the way. Check it out.

Anyway, that's my post for today. Hopefully I'll remember to do this again next week.
